WISCI thrashed TKCC Royals to widen their lead at the top of Division 1 in a 35 overs game played at the Cibubur Cricket ground this Saturday. William Noronha called right and not surprisingly opted to bat first, and in the company of Aman Singh set up a solid start for WISCI.

With the score at 116 for 3 in the 25th over, acceleration was critical to take advantage of the solid start and that is exactly what happened. Naresh ‘Gayle’ Gupta walked in with trepidation at his new batting position, but walked out after 10 overs, towering over an awe-struck Cibubur, having belted 9 sixes in a score of 81, an apt celebration of his recent parenthood. WISCI were back on track and finished with a strong score of 230 in their 35 overs. Nitin Asija & Mukesh Khetan were the only TKCC bowlers who escaped the Naresh-storm unscathed.

Armed with the comfort of a huge score to defend, the WISCI bowling kept nipping away with regular wickets and TKCC Royals just couldn’t string together partnerships of note. Govind Sodani & Deepak Singh did the initial damage and then followed, Vipin Chawla, who has over this season demonstrated a strong love for the tail. Once again he ran through the bottom order claiming 4 wickets for just 6 runs as TKCC were bowled out for just 114 runs.
