Jakarta Knightriders took on Ceria Komodos in a crucial clash to determine the top spot in the first game on Sunday. Maxi Koda got rid of the dangerous Pallav Malhotra cheaply, but Gema Fajar and Vivek Nair started the rebuilding process. The deceptive Alfhariz, changed the course of the innings with 3 telling blows and soon the Knightriders were looking well short at 105 for 7. A blinder of a knock from Yashpal Singh with support from Hashmat ensured the Knightriders finished with a fighting score of 146 runs in their 20 overs.
The wily William, decided to promote himself to open the batting in what was to prove a masterstroke. He attacked initially and then, dropped anchor when a few quick wickets fell. At the halfway stage, the Komodos still needed 70 runs to win with not much batting to come. A superb partnership between the ever reliable Maneesh Dubey & William ensured that the Komodos got home without the loss of any further wickets.
