WISCI extended their lead at the top of Division 1 of the Texmoda JCA League while the battle for Division 2 honors got even more intense as both the title contenders won their games this weekend.
Division 1 leaders WISCI took on arch rivals WPP India XI in a 35 overs encounter at the Karawaci grounds. WPP India XI just couldn’t string together partnerships of note as the WISCI bowlers led by Vipin Chawla with support from David Holme & Suhail Modak kept chipping away. The only partnership of note came from the lower order when the veterans Kishore Gunwani & Gaurang Kapadia put on 43 runs for the 8th wicket to give their bowlers something to defend.
WISCI needed to chase down a moderate target of 152 in 35 overs and to get there they decided to eschew heroics & adopt the patience route. Rajeev Rajeswaran held anchor at one end and did put together meaningful partnerships with the top order batsmen to ensure WISCI got home comfortably with 6 wickets in hand.
