The fight for Division 2 honours is turning out to be a very competitive one with 6 teams still in with a chance to end up in the top two positions. Challengers CC raced up the Division 2 ladder with a tense 2 wicket win over Mavecrics in yet another low-scoring game on Sunday. Vimal Nair was the star bowler for Challengers and good support from Satheesh Kumar & Manickavasagan ensured that Mavecrics innings never got going. Padmakar Surve was the only batsman to put up any resistance as his 35 runs gave Mavecrics something to bowl at.
Chasing 81 for a win in 20 overs, the Challengers were in a lot of trouble as Keyur Moradia & Padmakar Surve bowled brilliantly. Challengers were tottering at 29 for 6 and 81 runs seemed far away when the entry of Srinivasan Govindarajan changed the game on its head. He counter-attacked brilliantly and his unbeaten 35 helped Challengers cross the line with 2 wickets in hand.
