This weekend saw the finalization of the top two positions in Division 2 of the GMIS JCA league. Menara CC emerged winners of Division 2 after a convincing win over Mavecrics CC which meant that Challengers CC became Runners-up. Both teams earned a promotion to Division 1 for next season’s league on account of topping the table.
Mavecrics CC elected to bat first in their crucial game against Menara CC which would have decided the winners of Division 2. The Mavecrics batting just couldn’t gain momentum as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Keyur Moradia battled valiantly at one end as Zahid Hameed, Iruthayaraj & Faheem Butt kept chipping away at the other end. Extras ended up as the second highest scorer as Mavecrics CC were bowled out for 130 runs.
Menara CC lost 3 wickets for 42 runs to give Mavecrics some hope, but skipper Usman Muhammad batted very sensibly with good support from John Dulip Kumar to guide his team to the title win with 4 wickets in hand. The win also proved a great farewell gift for Usman Muhammad.
