SCORECARD

Senayan India XI won the toss and chose to bat first in their game against Menara Ceylon CC on 19th December at the Cibubur Cricket ground as part of the R.P. Singh Memorial cup. Roney Sahayanathan capture 3 early wickets and Senayan were off to a bad start at 18 for 4 in the 5th over. Sampath Kumar decided to counter-attack his way out of trouble with 3 boundaries, but Roney had the last laugh claiming him off the last ball of his 3rd over.

Amar Kapadia fought hard at one end while wickets kept tumbling at the other end, but he too fell in the 17th over for 34 and Senayan India XI were eventually bowled out for just 99.

Menara Ceylon CC would have fancied their chances of causing an upset at the innings break but those dreams were shattered in just the 2nd over of the chase with the wily Raj Kapadia striking with 3 wickets in his first over itself. 5/3 soon became 11 for 6 with David Surjit also chipping in with a wicket and a run-out compounding Menara Ceylon’s woes. Asad Ali & Sawan Malik tried to fight back but eventually Menara Ceylon could only manage 70 giving Senayan India XI a 29 run win
