After a long break for holidays, the cricketing action in Jakarta kicked off with the start of the Advanced Offshore JCA league this weekend. Current title holders Yadavas Chairos Tigers began their title defence in style winning both their games this Sunday.

The threatened wet weather stayed off long enough to ensure all 3 games of this weekend completed without any interruptions at the Cibubur cricket ground. Yadavas Chairos Tigers took on Jakarta Barbarians in the first game of the season, a 40 overs game, played on Saturday.

Barbarians chose to bat first and would soon regret that decision as Gede Darma Arta with support from his other bowlers swung the pink ball well enough to have Jakarta Barbarians in all sorts of trouble at 21 for 3. Eki Antaria fought valiantly at one end but didn’t get support from anyone else as Fernandes Nato & Gamantika kept up the bowling pressure to wrap up the Jakarta Barbarians innings for just 74 runs.

Vivek Nair gave Jakarta Barbarians a glimmer of hope taking two early wickets but that small window of hope of hope was quickly shut out by a mature unbeaten knock by Muhaddis to give the Tigers a 7 wicket win.
