The battle for Division 2 honors in the GMIS JCA league got a lot closer with 6 out of the 8 teams still with a shot at top honors after Menara CC & Mavecrics CC notched up wins this weekend. Metro Indians & Senayan CC also won their games in the Division 1 leg of the league.
Kirubasankar & MS Arun got Metro Indians off to a solid start in their 35 overs game against Jaguar CC at Cibubur on Saturday. Aryan Khan claimed the crucial wicket of Kirubasankar and the guile of Praveen Uppal led to a couple more wickets. Jagdeep Singh added to the Metro woes with 3 quick strikes and at 108 for 7, things were looking ominous for Metro Indians. A brilliant rearguard knock by Senthilvel, however, lifted Metro Indians to a fighting total of 160.
Jaguar CC didn’t start well in their reply and were soon 12 for 3. Karanjit Singh’s knock helped construct a recovery but Musthaq Ahmad fought back with 3 crucial blows and when Deepak Chand got rid of the dangerous Saulat Abbas, the game was sealed for Metro Indians.
