Metro Indians showed commendable resilience as they fought back well to beat Senayan CC and in the process escape relegation to Division 2. Senayan CC chose to bowl first in this crucial game and were on top early as they had Metro struggling at 37 for 3 thanks to a combination of brilliant catching and rash stroke-play. Kirubasankar then partnered well with Arya Pastika to rebuild the innings but when he fell, Metro Indians were still looking short at 117 for 4 in the 16thover. Sakthi Narayanan, the hero of Metro’s win in their last game against Senayan, once again stepped up as 47 runs came in the last 3 overs to take Metro to a competitive score of 171 in their 20 overs.

Senayan CC started brilliantly and were cruising towards a win as their openers Viraj Bhammar & Amrithanand Mandook put on a 103 run opening stand. Kirubasankar returned to get rid of Amrith and also piled on pressure through dot balls. 40 runs were needed for a win in 3 overs and Metro gambled in asking the young Ryan to bowl the 18thover. He responded with tremendous maturity in a game changing over where he got rid of both Viraj & Amar Kapadia aided by some brilliant catching by Kirubasankar. Eventually, Senayan couldn’t get the 34 runs needed of the last two overs.
