Challengers CC have virtually assured themselves of a top 2 finish in Division 2 and hence, a promotion to Division 1 after their rising stars Hariharasudhan & Gowtham Rajaram guided them to a huge win over Rebels CC.
Challengers CC were off to a solid start thanks to Hari & Gowtham after they were put in to bat by Rebels CC. They saw off the threat of Alfhariz at one end and went after a profligate Rebels bowling at the other end. The platform was set for some good acceleration after Challengers reached 68 for 1 at the end of 12 overs. Rebels pulled things back due to some tight bowling by Marten Eddy & Gaurav Tandon in the second session. Some attacking batting added to the heat as Challengers benefited from a listless bowling & fielding performance by Rebels to score 111 runs of the last 11 overs to setup a daunting target of 226. Hariharasudhan was magnificent as he remained unbeaten on 57 runs.
Rebels CC made a tough chase even harder by losing their openers cheaply. Vivek Elankannan & Sujeet Ramgir rebuilt the innings with some smart batting but the scoreboard pressure meant that acceleration was needed. Durai Mallikarjun bowled brilliantly and was aided by some fantastic catching by Hari and in the end, Rebels could only manage 117 runs.
