Challengers CC took on WPP India XI in a crucial 35 overs encounter as both teams were in a fight to avoid relegation to Division 2. WPP India XI had a stop-start innings after they were put in to bat, as they lost their top order for not much. Pallav Malhotra & Partha Kabi’s partnership helped stage a recovery to set up a platform for Rahul Pagad to explode as his 65 runs which included six 6s took WPP India XI to a strong total of 177 runs. Sunil Samtani & Muthu Muthamizhselvan were Challengers’ best bowlers of the day.
The Challengers batting woes continued as no one could give the prolific Vimal Nair company. While Vimal batted superbly for his 74 runs, no one else with the exception of Srinivasan Govindraj, could manage even double figures. Gaurang Kapadia & Rahul Pagad were the chief wicket takers but all the bowlers contributed as WPP bowled out Challengers for 141, winning by 36 runs.
