Three comfortable wins kick-started the Texmoda JCA League 2017-18, where 16 teams will be facing off against each other across 2 divisions.
Metro Indians were rocked early after they won the toss and decided to bat first versus WPP India XI in the sole Division 1 game of the weekend. The decision to have Kirubasankar open the batting, backfired as the wily, Dhiraj Nagpal, celebrated his promotion to WPP India XI captaincy by sending back both the openers in quick time. Ajay Mishra, then laid anchor and helped Metro recover from the early strikes but Amit Tripathi bowled well in the middle overs to deny the batsmen easy runs. A few lusty blows in the last 3 overs by Sabu Joy & Murali helped Metro finish at a below par 129 runs in their 20 overs.
The WPP India XI top order had been in top-form during the recent JCA T20 tournament & this form continued into the league as well. Rahul Pagad & Gaurav Pathak partnered once again to get WPP off to a good start in the chase. Venkatesh Rajendran & Murali Govindsamy fought back with a few wickets, but Rahul, ensured that WPP India XI got home with 5 wickets & 4 balls to spare.
