The second game of the day was a topsy-turvy, closely fought affair between Jakarta Knight Riders & Yadavas Chairos Tigers. The Tigers chose to bat first and were in deep trouble as Vivek Nair & Desandri Candil Saputra ran amok with some fabulous fast bowling. Things looked bleak with half the side back in the shades of the pavilion with just 41 on the board. The skillful Padmakar Surve then launched a stylish counter-attack and with the support of some woeful catching, put on 93 in the last 10 overs to give the Tigers a total to defend.
The Yadavas Chairos Tigers opening bowlers Gede Darma Arta & Rajeev Kumar were also superb as they dried up the scoring. Even the skillful Pallav Malhotra was made to play out a maiden by Rajeev and he fell in trying to force the pace. Mohib Hussaini & Vivek Nair brought things back for the Knightriders and at the half-way mark, they were ahead. The Tigers bowlers then struck back with quick wickets and at 82 for 7, the outlook for not bright for the Knightriders.
Yashpal Singh, however had other ideas as he took fancy to the harmless spin bowling of Frengky Shony who went for 29 runs in two overs. Yashpal was hitting them hard and with 27 runs needed of the last two overs against a sloppy Tigers fielding side, the game was on. The young Gede Darma Arta bowled a fabulous 19thover, conceding only 3 runs. The Tigers batting hero, Padmakar bowled the last over and to defend 24 runs. Yashpal struck 3 boundaries, but was not enough as the Knightriders ended 6 runs short.Â
