It was an exciting weekend at the GMIS JCA cricket league with a record-breaking ton and a superb 7 wicket haul as the main highlights. The week also saw last year’s winners WISCI suffering their first defeat of this season.

National team player Kirubasankar had shown signs of recovering his form with an unbeaten 63 last week and he got another opportunity this week when his team Metro Indians played WPP India XI in a T20 game.

Metro Indians chose to bat first and Kirubasankar strode out to make his presence felt and make a statement. He started with a huge six in the first over and pushed on the accelerator scoring 16 runs in the 3rdover. The foot was never lifted off the accelerator as Kirubasankar spared no bowler other than Dhiraj Nagpal. The end of the 20thover brought much needed relief to the WPP bowlers and also the highest ever individual score in JCA T20 history. Metro Indians finished on 186 for 1 with Kirubasankar having got 141 of those runs.

WPP India XI had the batting power to chase down this total but lost their openers relatively early in the chase with Sakthi accounting for the dangerous Pallav Malhotra. Govind Sodani & Vinayak Kurtkoti fought back with a 73 run stand, but Kirubasankar returned, with the ball this time to break the stand and any hopes of WPP chasing down the target.
