A confident TKC Mavs with 3 wins from 4 games took on Menara Ceylon CC who were struggling to find batting form after having lost 4 of their 5 games in the second game of the Saturday at the Cibubur Cricket ground.
TKC Mavs chose to bowl after winning the toss and might have been nervous when the first over went for 14 runs. The opening bowlers Nimesh Shah & Swaroop Chavan who have had a fabulous tournament so far, fought back brilliantly to have MCC struggling at 43 for 5 at the end of their 8 over spell. Keyur Moradia took another wicket in the 9th over to further compound MCC’s woes and they looked in real danger of being bowled out cheaply.
Hashmatullah however had other ideas and buoyed by his recent batting form and a counter-attacking streak, he single-handedly revived MCC’s fortunes with a fabulous unbeaten 39 to give his team’s bowlers something to defend as MCC finished at 129.
The MCC opening bowlers Sanjeewa & Faheem Butt started very well conceding only 18 runs in the first 6 overs. Neetesh Pansare started the acceleration in the 8th over which went for 10 runs and Roney bowled 7 wides in his second over in the midst of which he also confused Gaurav Pathak to bowl him with a rare ball on the stumps! The prolific Padmakar Surve then came in and put on a match-winning 82 run stand with Neetesh, who would have relished his first game in JCA after a while. TKC Mavs reached the target with 6 wickets in hand in the 20th over.
