Winning the toss and bowling first, Emerio, undefeated in the league so far, did get it right yet again, when they had GMIS reeling at 110/6 after 24 overs. Just when it seemed that Emerio was running away with the game, a fine rearguard action by Jalaj Chaturvedi and Maulik Trivedi, scoring their maiden half centuries of the season, helped GMIS post a respectable score of 207 runs before being all out. Both batsmen were dismissed for 55 runs each. For Emerio, Vijay Krishnan once again did well with the ball taking 5 wickets conceding 40 runs. Harish Vaidyanathan took 2/19. Carrying the momentum from their batting into the field, early strikes by GMIS through the bowling of Mohammad Imran and Karan Tiwari pegged Emerio back, reducing them to 37/6 at the first drinks break after 12 overs. Despite a defiant unbeaten 53 runs by David Surjit, Emerio was all out for 107 runs, conceding their first loss and GMIS’ first win of the season, by 100 runs. Mohammad Imran finished with figures of 5/19, while Karan Tiwari and Bharat Dholakandi chipped in with two wickets each.
