The Texmoda JCA league witnessed a weekend of closely fought games where the eventual winners Senayan CC, Mavecrics CC & Jakarta Barbarians had to fight back from tough situations to prevail in the end.
Mavecrics CC took on Division 2 topper Jaguar CC in a 35 overs game at the Karawaci cricket ground. Rain had led to the game being reduced to 28 overs a side and Jaguars would have rued their decision to bat first when a pumped-up Keyur Moradia scythed through their top order reducing them to 23 for 5 in very quick time. The lower order tried to revive the innings, but Pradeep Patnaik struck thrice to bowl out Jaguars for just 78 runs.
A strong Jaguars bowling attack meant that chasing even 79 wouldn’t be easy and soon, the Mavecrics were tottering at 10 for 3 as Aryan Shah struck twice. It needed a mature knock by the Mavecrics skipper, Keyur Moradia, to calm the nerves as he partnered with Pradeep to guide his team home with 4 wickets in hand.
