Three games were played in the final weekend of this season’s league and with the team positions decided, what remained was only a battle for MVP positions. Division 2 runners-up Jaguar CC took on Rebels CC in their 35 overs game this Sunday.

Rebels, with the veteran Cameron Knox, back in the captain’s saddle, chose to bat first. Shabbir Hussain bowled a hostile opening spell and it needed a good partnership between Cameron and Geoff Perryman to steady the ship. A late order partnership between Marten Eddy & Suresh helped the Rebels put up a strong total of 208 in their 35 overs.

The Rebels opening bowling also started in good form as Sean Montague & Alfhariz kept the lid on the scoring. Marten Eddy & Gaurav Tandon then ran through the batting and Jaguar CC, didn’t seem keen to chase the total down and eventually folded for just 71 runs. The only contest of interest was for the Best bowler prize as Alfhariz threatened to equal Praveen Uppal’s haul. Eventually, the Jaguar batsmen ensured that Alfhariz finished 1 wicket short of Praveen’s haul.
