Rain threatened & eventually shortened the action but never got wet enough to dampen the enthusiasm or lead to washed-out games. Both the games over the weekend saw results as WISCI Wanderers & Senayan CC won their 40 over games comfortably.
Senayan CC began their first-ever Division 2 stint with a big win over Rebels CC at Cibubur Cricket ground on Saturday. Overnight rain delayed the start and the game was reduced to an 30 over a side affair. Senayan CC asked Rebels to take first strike and the Rebels openers, Geoff Perryman & Prakash Vaswani, obliged with a solid start. The introduction of Amar Kapadia in the 13th over however, changed the complete complexion of the game as his lethal Chinamen triggered a panic in the Rebels ranks and 3 wickets fell in one over.
Vivek Elankannan fought valiantly at one end but got no support from anyone else as further wickets to Maneesh Dubey & Gema Fajar led to Rebels only being able to manage 150 runs. Chasing 150 has not always been easy as earlier matches in this Season show, but Senayan CC were determined to start well.
Gema Fajar, playing his first game for Senayan CC and Parag Haldankar combined brilliantly to put on an 103 run opening stand and that too in just 14 overs to setup a comfortable 6 wicket win with 10 overs to spare.
