RB United would have been desperate to register their first win of the season but they were up against the Table toppers Yadavas WISCI Tigers who were yet to lose a game. RB United skipper Anwesh Bose started the day off with a win as the coin fell in his favor and the prospect of an earlier return home (or the pub) prompted him to immediately choose to bat first.
Gede Darma Arta got one to shape back in accounting for the RB United opener pretty early on but Gaurav Sharma and Tom Riches dropped anchor and their slow, but steady 40 run stand gave RB United a platform to build on. Azhar and Gaurav Sharma tried to up the ante against some very tight Tigers bowling with a 45 run stand in the next 6 overs. Some big overs were needed in the last 3 but they ended up being big only for the bowlers, especially Gede Darma Arta who notched up 3 wickets in the 20th over and RB United could only manage 108 for 7 in their 20 overs.
The Tigers made the small total look further smaller as 29 runs came off the first two overs of the chase. Gaurav Tandon & Marten Eddy pulled things back with some tight overs but loose balls meant that the pressure couldn’t be sustained and Anjar Tadarus anchored the chase beautifully as the Tigers got to the target with 6 wickets and 7 overs in hand. In the process, the Tigers also helped the economic revival boosting Bintang sales with an early finish!
