It was an action filled weekend in the GMIS JCA league which witnessed a 1 run win, a record eight wicket haul and continued dominance by Yadavas Chairos Tigers.

Indorama CC hosted Rawamangun CC (RCC) at the Purwakarta cricket ground for a 35 overs game on Sunday. Skipper PC Sethi struck early for Indorama with a wicket off the second ball of the game, but the rapidly maturing Rohan Shirodkar once again stood tall for RCC as he anchored valuable partnerships with Riski Sanjaya & Yeri Rosongna. RCC was looking good to post a big score, when the experienced Srikkanth struck with a run-out and two quick wickets. PC Sethi also got rid of the dangerous Yeri Rosongna & this meant that RCC had to settle for a below par score of 158.

Indorama CC would have been the more confident side at the break given their familiarity with the unique angularities of the Purwakarta ground and were looking comfortable as Sandeep Kukkar & Vinod Nalluru started off with a 56 run opening stand. The introduction of Dzulham Afandi in the 15thover turned the game on its head. Playing in only his 2ndgame in the league, Dzulham struck with 2 wickets in his first over. Thereafter, he took a wicket in each of his next overs to have Indorama on the ropes at 82 for 8. Srikkanth, as he often does, counter-attacked well to give Indorama hope, but his fall to Dzulham again, drew down the curtains for his team, as they fell short by 36 runs.

Dzulham’s eight wicket haul puts him in the elite company of only 4 other players who have done that before. David Holme who had taken 8 for 12 in the cup finals in 2013 leads the table. Rajeev Kumar, Govind Sodani & Raja Mohan Surya are the others who have taken 8 wickets in an innings.
