Metro Indians took on newly elevated Menara CC in a Division 1 T20 game on Sunday and got off to a slow start after choosing to bat first. Kirubasankar then exploded as 39 runs came off the 7th & 8th overs to get Metro back on track as they went into drinks well placed at 89 for 3 after 10 overs. Muhammad Mubeen claimed the crucial wicket of Kirubasankar just on resumption after drinks and Praveen Uppal & Sawan Malik chipped in with few more wickets. Rohit Kripalani batted well towards the end overs to take Metro Indians to 132 in their 20 overs.
The Menara CC chase hit an early roadblock as Senthilvel with support from the other bowlers reduced Menara to 36 for 4 in the 7th over. Muhammad Mubeen, who was batting well at the other end tried to build partnerships but the Metro bowlers kept chipping away and at 68 for 6 in the 14th over, things were looking bleak for Menara. Mubeen upped the ante with 22 runs coming of the 16th over and Menara now needed just 29 runs in 4 overs.
But, Kirubasankar bowled two brilliant overs for just 7 runs and a good over from Additya Khurana also meant that Menara now needed 19 runs in the last over, which proved too much to get and Metro Indians won a tight game by 5 runs.
