7-time league champions WISCI showed a strong return to winning ways with a their second win of the season over newly promoted Challengers CC. Rain had delayed the start of this game too and the game was reduced to 30 overs a side contest. WISCI won the toss & predictably, chose to bowl first.

David Holme & William Noronha bowled well for WISCI and kept chipping away with top order wickets. Just when a partnership seemed to be building through Harihasudhan & Satheesh Kumar, Deepak Singh struck thrice to derail the fightback and bowl out Challengers for just 126 runs.

Karthigaideepan’s double strike in the second over of the chase gave Challengers early hope of a fight, but Naresh Gupta counter-attacked in style with 21 runs coming off the 3rd over. 11 more runs came in the 4th over but just when the Gayle-storm clouds were looming, Muthamizhselvan cleaned up Naresh Gupta’s stumps and brought Challengers back into the game. Adam Jones, played sheet-anchor to hold one end up long enough as when the skies opened up again, WISCI were 30 runs ahead of the DLS par score to seal their win.
