In a back to back division 2 game at the TATA motors JCA League, between Fez Rebels and Ceylon Cricket Club at Cibubur on Saturday, Fez Rebels exacted sweet revenge for their previous loss with a comprehensive 8 wicket win over Ceylon. Put into bat, Ceylon lost wickets at regular intervals and failed to forge a partnership. The CCC batsmen failed to apply themselves, with three of their middle order batsmen running themselves out not helping their cause. Thanks to some brilliant ground fielding and catching by Rebels, led by Willie Summerville (2 run-outs and 2 catches), Ceylon soon folded up for just 124 runs in the 27th over. Avakash Lohia with 22 runs and Baba with 21 runs provided the sole resistance to offer some respectability to the score. OP Rajesh and Corbon took 2 wickets apiece. In reply, Ceylon must have fancied their chances when they had Rebels’ two best batsmen Cameron Knox and Corbon back in the pavilion cheaply. But Christian Hirst had other ideas. Starting with a four off the first ball, he put the Ceylon bowling to the sword and plundered 61 runs off just 26 balls that included 5 sixes. Warwick Peters who opened the innings remained not out on 26 runs holding one end up while Hirst went on the rampage at the other. Fez Rebels reached the target in only 14.3 overs thereby hugely boosting their net run rate. With this loss Ceylon badly hurt its chances of coming second in their group behind JaguarsCC.
