Jakarta Barbarians squared off against WPP India XI in the first T20 game of Sunday at Cibubur. The Barbarians batsmen couldn’t string together many big partnerships in the face of some good, disciplined bowling by WPP India XI led by Gaurav Pathak & Gaurang Kapadia. Ben Burgess started well, but couldn’t go on and it needed some lusty hits by Azhar Ali & Jon Baker to take Barbarians to 110 in their 20 overs.

WPP India XI whose batting hasn’t really clicked consistently enough this season, needed to bat sensibly to overhaul the smallish target. The WPP openers Ajay & Naidu batted sensibly to put on 47 for the first wicket in the 10th over and had built a solid platform for their side. But, the asking rate was around 7 an over and their was a need to accelerate but Ben Burgess got himself into the attack and changed the course of the game quickly. He not only took wickets regularly, but also kept things quiet as WPP India XI collapsed and could only manage 87 for 8 in their 20 overs falling short by 23 runs.
