Persistent overcast conditions and the use of two pink balls in a game has led to the dominance of bowlers so far in the Advanced Offshore JCA cricket league. This weekend too saw Raj Kapadia claiming a five-wicket haul which helped Senayan CC crush Rebels CC. BLPL Mavecrics, Challengers CC & OECL Ceylon CC were the other winners of the week.

NTT Cricket club inserted BLPL Mavecrics in to bat after winning the toss as the two unbeaten sides squared-off in a 40 overs, Division 2 game. Vishal Hirgude was on the money as he ripped out the Mavecrics top order in quick time to have them reeling at 27 for 5. Pradeep Patnaik claimed another wicket and the Mavecrics hole got a lot more deeper at 43 for 7.

Then followed one of the better fightbacks seen in the JCA league, with the young Mohit Hotchandani, batting with a lot of grit and maturity helped Mavecrics CC add 92 runs including a 47 run last wicket stand with Nimesh Shah. Mohit remained unbeaten on 47 and Mavecrics ended with 136.

The NTT chase started well as Harshal Kulkarni & Kapil Dhingra took their side to 54 for 1 and just when the chase was looking well in control, Padmakar Surve struck with this incisive pace. His 4 wicket haul and wickets to Keyur Moradia sparked a collapse with NTT CC losing 5 wickets for just 25 runs. Raunak Kapoor tried to fightback but didn’t get support at NTT CC fell short by 17 runs.
