Tight bowling by the GMIS CC opening bowlers Mohammad Imran & Karan Tiwari had Challengers CC in trouble early in their innings after they were put in to bat. GMIS CC would have been the happier team when they had sent half the opposition batting back to pavilion for just 38 runs at the half-way stage. Vimal Nair & Satinder Singh, then, put on a fantastic run-a-ball partnership that rescued Challengers and took them to a fighting 118 after 20 overs.

GMIS CC would have felt comfortable in their chase as they got off to a decent start with Naresh Gupta showing some of his form from last season. The loss of Naresh & the entry of Chander Pandey however, changed the tide of the game. In one of the best spells of the league so far, Chander Pandey took 2 wickets for just 4 runs in 4 overs in a match-winning performance. He then showed his mettle with the keepers gloves in the field with 2 catches & a stumping. Diwakar Mohan & Imran staged a fightback to get GMIS back in the game but by then the required run rate was far too high for them to achieve in the end.
