Challengers CC were looking to continue their dream, unbeaten run as they took on Metro Indians in the Madras Derby at GMIS grounds. After being put in to bat, a superb 121 run partnership in just 18 overs by the prolific duo of Ranjan Shankar & Chander Pandey put Challengers CC in the driving seat. Vimal Nair & Satinder Minhas then put on a further 44 runs until Sakthi Narayanan struck back with a 5 wicket haul to prevent Challengers CC putting on a huge total.
A target of 229, though tough, was still achievable in the GMIS grounds when Metro Indians went in to bat. The top order batsmen batted around a solid Kirubasankar, and Metro Indians looked in control of the chase reaching 160 in the 25th over. Chander Pandey’s double strike then changed the course of the game by accounting for both Kiruba & Ajay Mishra. The asking rate climbed to more than 8 runs an over and Satinder Minhas than bowled a fantastic double wicket maiden, 34th over to seal the game in his team’s favor.
