WISCI continued their dominance of the JCA cricket league, recording their 6th consecutive win with a huge thrashing of PHM Jaguar CC in their T20 game on Sunday. Having started the season with the loss of a few key players and early season game losses, meant that the pressure was huge on WISCI and their talismanic captain, William Noronha. They had to win their last game of the season with a huge margin in order go above the Net run rate of Yadavas Senayan CC.

Having won the crucial toss, the skipper William, took the onus on himself and he, in the company of the experienced, Rajeev Rajeswaran, started things off briskly and the pair put on 82 runs in just 8 overs. Suhail Modak, then stepped on the runs pedal and a hapless Jaguar bowling attack could only watch as they were carted to all parts of the ground. Bob Plath & Big Dave ensured they capitalized on the strong platform to take WISCI to a huge 227 in their 20 overs.

Having done well during batting, WISCI needed to now ensure Jaguar CC didn’t cross 120 runs in their chase. Their bowlers now stepped up, firstly through Govind Sodani, riding high on his 8 wickets haul in the previous game, and then through Suhail, Dave Holme & Deepak Singh. Jaguar CC were jolted early and lost their top 3 batsmen for just 10 runs. After that, the Jaguar CC lost their will for a fight and decided to play out the overs, making just 67 in 20 overs.

WISCI in their last game, demonstrated the values of teamwork and their ability to step-up when it really matters, both of which are essential champion traits and have been successfully engendered by their skipper William Noronha, making them deserving winners once again.
