This weekend’s limited action in the Texmoda JCA league saw two, very one-sided games leading to quick finishes and happy families as the players got to go home early.

Challengers CC who are in an exciting and close battle with Emerio CC for winning Division 2 and earning a slot in the Champions Cup, took on Fez Rebels in a 35 overs game at Cibubur cricket ground. Opting to bowl first, they started well with the early wicket of Warwick Peters. Corbon Loughnan, playing his last JCA game and Marten Eddy started to fight back, but the introduction of Sunil Samtani, quickly changed the tide of the game. His off-cutters and his new-found dislike for upright stumps, led to him taking 6 wickets, all of them bowled and his spell left in disarray, not only the stumps, but also Fez Rebels hopes of putting up a fighting total. Geoff Perryman offered some resistance, but Rebels folded for just 96 runs.

Challengers CC came out all-guns blazing in their quest for a Run rate advantage. Ranjan Shankar, did his gym instructor proud by clobbering 5 sixes as he muscled his team towards victory. His departure to a sharp catch saw Sidhu Singh finishing off the task, with some more hard hitting and Challengers CC won with 7 wickets and 25 overs to spare. They now lead the Division 2 with a net run rate advantage over Emerio CC.
