At Cibubur, overnight and persistent rains made the ground conditions look unplayable for the Sunday game between ChallengersCC and Division 2 leaders JaguarsCC. However a brief let up in the rain saw the puddles of water recede in a ground known to have impressive drainage which made play possible, but reduced to 20 overs a side, to accommodate for the delayed start. Being asked to bat first, ChallengersCC started well reaching 65/1 after 10 overs. A typical middle and late order collapse then meant that Challengers were all-out for 115 runs in 20 overs, a score that is about par at the lush green venue. Sunil Samtani and Satinder Minhas scored 44 and 19 runs respectively while Rehan took 4 wickets for 8 runs. When Jaguars started the chase, the Challengers didn’t let them get away as they restricted them to 21/2 at the end of the powerplay of 6 overs. Just as Dhimanshu ( 26 runs )and Sasikumar were beginning to take the game away with their partnership, a fine bowling effort led by Satinder ( 4/13) and outstanding fielding brought the game down to Jaguars needing 9 runs off the last over with one wicket standing. In a game which saw a brilliant moment of gamesmanship when Challengers Captain Chandroo withdrew an appeal against Jaguars batsman, a fine running catch at mid-wicket ended the Jaguars innings, 8 runs short of the target in the very last over.
