A Scintillating display with both the bat (109 runs) and ball (3/49) by Hitesh Malhotra helped TKCC defeat SenayanCC by 6 wickets in a TATA Motors JCA League, Division 1 encounter, at the GMIS grounds on Sunday. In pursuit of chasing 203 runs to win, Hitesh, opening the batting for TKCC along with Ravinder Negi (38 runs) put on 141 runs for the opening wicket that demonstrated what a combination of youth and experience can do. From thereon, it was a walk in the park as despite losing 3 more wickets, TKCC crossed the finish line, overhauling the target with the best part of 3 overs unutilized.

Hitesh was exhilarated as not only did his maiden century come in a winning cause but it also helped break the jinx of him having been out in the nervous 90s on four previous occasions.

Earlier being put into bat, SenayanCC started well with the help of Parag Haldankar and Muhaddis (31 runs). A fine consolidation effort by Anjar Tadarus (30) and Ahmad Ramdhoni (42) helped SenayanCC reach 148/4 after 24 overs. However the claiming of two wickets in one over by Hitesh helped TKCC pull things back and supported by Skipper Swaroop Chavan’s fine bowling effort (3/26) Senayan were dismissed for 203 runs.

Senayan, despite ending up on the losing side can take pride from their generous act of sportsmanship when their skipper Ashit Mehta recalled a TKCC batsman to the crease after they felt he was erroneously declared out by the on-field umpire.

Thanks to David & Mani from Emerio CC for umpiring the game.
