WISCI extended their dominance in the Texmoda JCA league with another win that gave them a 24 point lead at the top of Division 1. However, they were made to fight hard for this weekend’s win over WPP India XI.

After having put WISCI in to bat, WPP India XI were cock-a-hoop when Kukan Kuhaneshwaran struck with the first ball of the innings, trapping the dangerous Naresh Gupta in front with a sharp in-cutter. And when the ever-reliable Rajeev Rajeswaran fell to a sharp catch by Ajay Kurtkoti, WISCI were in some early trouble. Things got worse for them as three more wickets fell in quick succession and they were at 22 for 5 in quick time.

WISCI, who are known for their ability to claw out of tough situations, fought back through some counter-attacking cricket. Recent work at the gym helped Govind Sodani muscle his way over his favorite leg-side boundaries with ease, thus leading the WISCI fightback. Despite some good bowling by Pallav Malhotra, valuable contributions from Vipin Chawla and the lower order ensured that the WISCI bowlers had a score to defend.

The WISCI opening bowlers Deepak Singh & David Holme came out with all cylinders firing and a fiery opening bowling spell ripped out the WPP India XI top order in quick time. Rahul Pagad was the only India XI batsman to cross double figures as Vipin Chawla spun out the lower order to give his side a huge 57 run win
