In one of the closest finishes seen in the Texmoda JCA league, David Holme belted 10 runs of the last two balls of the final over to take his side, WISCI Wanderers home with just a wicket to spare against Jakarta Barbarians.

The in-form Jakarta Barbarians openers started things off very well for their side as they put on more than 50 runs for the opening stand. Things however started to go awry for them post the introduction of Aman Singh who took 3 wickets in an over to rock the innings. Govind Sodani & Suhail Modak kept up the pressure at the other end as Barbarians were bowled out for what looked like a below par 127 in their 20 overs.

The Barbarians bowling has been their strength and it was on display again as Vivek Singh rocked WISCI early in a superb opening burst as he claimed 3 wickets for just 8 runs including the wickets of the dangerous Vinayak & Naresh Gupta. Rajeev Rajeswaran provided some much needed stability with a workmanlike knock, but in what was to be a good day for Vivek’s, Vivek Nair struck with three wickets to have WISCI against the wall. The big Dave Holme, who has on many occasions rescued WISCI with the bat, chose this match to argue for a climb up the batting order as he single handedly shepherded his team towards the target.

With more than 10 runs needed off the last over and only 1 wicket in hand, it looked like Barbarians had the game under control. Dave had to refuse singles to retain strike and with his team needing 9 runs to win off the last 2 balls, he hit a four and a six to pull off a heist.
