In another Division 1 game at Cibubur on Sunday, the belligerent innings of hard hitting batsman Ishaq Khan proved decisive as MenaraCC defeated Jakarta Barbarians by 36 runs. Ishaq, took center-stage as the Barbarians had Menara in a spot of bother at 132/8. He took the battle right into the Barbarian’s camp as he smashed 6 sixes, while remaining unbeaten on 45 runs off just 24 balls. His crucial partnership of 48 runs for the 9th wicket ensured that Menara had the momentum with them going into the break. Useful contributions from Mahesh Thadani (26 runs) and Sushant Gambhir (25 runs) contributed to Menara finishing at an above par score of 185/9 in 35 overs. For the Barbarians, Scott Mason took 4 wickets, while Eki Antaria and Mark Bruny took 2 wickets each. In response, despite losing opener Ben Burgess to only the 2nd ball of their innings, the Barbarians, were staying in the hunt until the start of the final session. Menara, fielding a depleted bowling attack, bowled in the right areas and coupled with intelligent field placing and smart catching, had the Barbarians all out for 149 runs. Harish Tiwari took 3 wickets, while Taimur khan, Sushant and Amit Bhat took 2 wickets each. The support for the bowlers was evidenced by Ravinder Singh who took 4 catches, coming in as a Substitute fielder.
