Meanwhile on Sunday, at the same venue, in a division 2 game, the all Indonesian Chairos Tigers defeated Ceylon CC by 16 runs. Batting first the Tigers scored 235/3 in its 35 overs. Gemma Fajar remained unbeaten on 88 runs (off just 77 balls) along with veteran Sachin Gopalan (58* off 44 balls).
Chasing 236 runs to win, Ceylon, riding on a fine 60 runs by Dihan Silva were sitting pretty on 106/3 at the first drinks break. A fine comeback then by the Chairos bowlers led by Yoko (3/33) and Gemma (2/29) had Ceylon all out for 219 runs in the 28th over. Rajeev Kumar scored 27 runs for Ceylon, while Gemma, for his all-round performance was declared the “Man of the Matchâ€.
